Sony announced on April 28, 2011 that the company will resume BD (Blu-ray Disk) production at its Tagajo plant located in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan in late May 2011, according to the Japan Today. The Tagajo plant is Sony's final plant to resume production. The Tagajo plant was also in charge of optical part production for projectors and electrodes for lithium-ion batteries before the earthquake, and Sony said the production will be moved to other facilities.
